The purpose of this study was to evaluate the tensile bond strength between
Ni-Cr-Be alloy and veneered resins. The cast metal specimens of Ni-Cr-Be alloy were
divided into two groups. One group was polished with #600 SiC paper, the other group
was sandblasted with 250¥ìm aluminum oxide. After then, metal adhesive primers and
resin veneering were applied. The veneered resins were two commercially available
second generation laboratory composite resins for indirect restoration. The two selected
veneered resins were Targis(Ivoclar AG., Liechtenstein) and Artglass(Kulzer, Germany).
The two selected metal adhesive primers were Targis Link(Ivoclar AG., Liechtenstein)
and Siloc bond(Kulzer, Germany). Tensile bond strength was measured using Instron
Universal Testing machine and fractured surface of the resin veneered metal was
examined under the naked eyes and scanning electron microscope.
Within the limits of this study, following results were withdrawn.
1. The tensile bond strength between Targis resin and metal were 2.72 ¡¾0.75MPa in
polishing group and 4.79 ¡¾0.08MPa in sandblasting group. There was significant
difference between two groups(p<0.01). In Artglass veneering, they were 2.46¡¾0.59MPa
in polishing group and 4.77¡¾1.22MPa in sandblasting group. There was also significant
difference between two groups(p<0.01). But there was no significant difference between
two veneered materials(p>0.05).
2. In Targis group, fracture occurred at the interface between metal and resin in
polishing group, while cohesive fracture in Dentin resin was observed in sandblasing
group. In Artglass group, opaque resin exfoliation was observed in polishing group and
fracture at the metal and opaque resin interface was observed in sandblasting group.
